This season on ‘Entourage’ (so far)

Posted by Jon Wiener on July 12, 2010

Back in 2004, the world was introduced to a group of arrogant dudes from Queens who suddenly became the luckiest assholes on the planet after moving to Los Angeles.  For those of you who need the lowdown, Entourage was created to be a male-version of Sex and the City.  HBO had a good thing going for them, so they decided to translate a group of rich, arrogant women for a male audience.

Here’s a rundown of what’s happening this season (so far) with the Entourage guys…

Vince: We left Vince last season as he was about to shoot the Ferrari movie, so we pick up after that has already been shot and is about to come out.  Vince is currently starring in the new Nick Cassavetes (dir: The Notebook) action movie.  During a climactic scene, Cassavetes asks Vince to perform his own driving stunt.  After pleas from his bros to not do it, Vince agrees to do the stunt.  Because his life is so boring, the stunt transforms Vince into an impulsive adrenaline junkie.  He cuts his hair (which angers Cassavetes) and goes skydiving with E‘s workplace nemesis (Scott Caan).  Speaking of E…

E (Eric): E is doing well at Murray Berenson’s (George Segal) management firm.  He’s still engaged to Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui) and wearing tiny clothing.  His plot-line hasn’t quite thickened yet, but you never know with these Entourage boys.  Oh, he just started managing Johnny Drama.  Speaking of Johnny Drama…

Johnny “Johnny Drama” Chase: Johnny has a track record of being insanely difficult to work with on set.  As an aging TV actor, he doesn’t get the parts that he wants.  Clearly, the best way to get over failure is to go to a strip club with your brother, which, in Entourageville, isn’t gross and uncomfortable.  Anyway, after agent Lloyd makes some phone calls, we learn that nobody wants to hire Johnny because he isn’t “pretty” enough.  No surprise there.  Speaking of Lloyd…

Lloyd: Lloyd seems to be having trouble holding his own at “the biggest agency in the world”.  We often see Lloyd coming to Ari for help.  Speaking of Ari…

Ari Gold: Ari is “the biggest agent in the world” and that’s apparently not enough for him.  He constantly complains about doing is job because, in his mind, he shouldn’t have to do anything since he is “the biggest agent in the world”.  He’s still buddies with the gang and he’s on the verge of owning a NFL team, which he may be asked to create in Los Angeles.

Oh yeah.  Almost forgot about Turtle

Turtle: I’m not sure what’s up with Turtle.  I think he’s running a prostitution ring.  Maybe it’s a driving service.  Certainly, he’s hiring based on physical appearance, so maybe he’ll go to jail or get negative Yelp reviews.

So that’s what’s happening on Entourage.  I’ll be sure to fill you in if anything should seem noteworthy in the coming episodes.
